Heat Stroke - What YOU Need To Know

Signs of Heat Stroke:

A temperature of 105 is a good sign a cow is headed towards heat stroke, and once her temperature reaches 108 death is usually near. Heat stress signs include tongue out, drooling, increased heart rate, etc.

What to do:

When signs point that a cow is headed towards heat stroke, the main goal should be to get her body temperature back down as quickly as possible. This can be done by a combination of a cold water bath, fans, hydrating with cool water and a Flunixin Meglumine IV.

Act fast when signs of heat stroke hit, there is not time to wait for a vet!
